History
The Maine Local Area Network of Excellence formed in March 2007.

Organizational Structure 
The Maine Culture Change Coalition is also the LANE for Maine under the Advancing Excellence Campaign. Members of the Coalition include DHHS Regulators, State Ombudsman, Maine Chapter of AMDA, Legal Services for the Elderly, Maine Health Care Association, Northern New England AAHSA, University of Southern Maine's Muskie School staff (Workforce Development), QIO, Alzheimer's Association and Providers.

Funding
No formal funding structure at this time. Member organizations have underwritten cost of educational events.

Major Activities This Year

  • Expanded membership including representation from assisted living and independent living care settings;
  • Expanded LANE Convener role with representatives from QIO joining as additional Co-Conveners;
  • Increased AE Campaign enrollment in state from 88.1% to 90.8%;
  • Development of annual goals through learning circle format;
  • Direct care worker welcomed as Vice-President of the Coalition;
  • Successfully completed three Advancing Excellence/LANE grant projects focused on improving clinical outcomes, advancing consistent assignment and reducing staff turnover;
  • Presented on Culture Change Coalition and Advancing Excellence/LANE efforts to State Survey Agency, State Ombudsmen and Maine Chapter of American College of Healthcare Administrators;
  • Participated in State Nursing Home Regulation Rewrite Workgroup;
  • Offered "Design on a Dollar" webinar to all nursing home providers in state.
