Concurrent Sessions

Whether you care for elders at home, in "Households" or in traditional long-term care settings, you'll find the latest tools and techniques of person-directed care in our Concurrent Sessions.  This year's conference features a wide range of new topics and timely subjects.  See session descriptions for Thursday, August 2nd and for Friday, August 3rd.  No matter where you are in your culture change journey, there's something new and exciting for everyone!

Closing Session

The closing session will feature guest speaker Stephen G. Post, Ph.D., co-author of Why Good Things Happen to Good People: The Exciting New Science that Proves the Link Between Doing Good and  Living a Longer, Healthier, Happier Life.

Stephen will share his experiences from more than two decades of work with older adults in communities and assisted living as an advocate. While the institutional model of care treats aging as an illness, Stephen’s work honors the wisdom and power of older adults who are working to create environments that support mutual respect and dignity. Combining research data on the healing power of altruism with uplifting stories of human compassion, he will demonstrate how “loving your neighbor as yourself” can indeed provide a joyful path toward a fulfilling life.

Wine Tasting: A Toast to the Pioneer Network

Join us on Thursday, August 2nd from 6:00 to 7:15 pm for an exclusive, high end wine tasting event with John Glas of Wineglas.  The one thing that wine and people have in common is that they get better with age.  We look forward to sharing quality wine with you during this educational, festive event.  The cost is $25 per person which includes wine, appetizers, and wine education. Cheers!

GENERAL INFORMATION

Who Should Attend?
