 This 60-minute webinar describes person-centered trauma-informed care as it relates to this year’s newest phase of CMS regulation regarding Trauma-Informed care. §483.25 effective Nov. 28, 2019.

The presenter will identify types trauma events, educate about physical and mental manifestations of trauma, and provide strategies for person-centered response plans when residents disclose trauma histories.

Attendees will leave the webinar with interpretation of the trauma-informed guidelines, related F tags, interpret the Behavioral and Emotional Status Critical Element Pathway used by state survey, assessment tools for staff, and apply four actions steps to prepare your community for person centered trauma informed care.

  3. List five traumatic events that may be encountered in the histories of LTC residents.
  4. Relate five physical and mental manifestations of trauma.

  6. Apply four action steps to prepare your community for person centered trauma-informed Care.

Cynthia E. Baker

Cynthia earned a Masters of Social Work from the University of Missouri and obtained her License to Practice Clinically in 2003. Beginning her career in private practice treating children and families, teens, and college age adults,  in 2013, she embarked on the field of Gerontology providing Psychotherapy to residents suffering from mental health issues living in LTC communities.  Currently Cynthia is a Clinical Provider and Regional Clinical Manager for Deer Oaks Behavioral Health.  She is licensed to practice therapy in four states and has earned a Clinical Specialty in Gerontology endorsed by the National Association for Social Workers. She supervises more than 50 Licensed Clinical Providers in three states and also trains and provides continuing education about significant behavioral health and LTC to Clinical Providers working in 29 states. Cynthia has presented for Pioneer Network, the Missouri Coalition Celebrating Care Continuum Change (MC5), Leading Age in three states, HealthCare Associations, NASW and Texas Psychological Association.  Cynthia also serves on the MC5 Board of Directors.
