Traditionally, engagement in senior living communities has been rooted in the delivery of group activities and designed to appeal to a broad audience. Due to the unforeseen challenges of the pandemic, with in-person activities restricted or eliminated, communities have been compelled to seek alternative approaches for keeping elders engaged and connected. As we continue moving into our next normal, communities have an opportunity to craft a purposeful, resident-driven experience that doesn’t rely on standard engagement models. Technology is poised to play a central role in this re-imagined way of engaging, as residents in all levels of care have demonstrated that they are able and willing to embrace tech to stay connected to who and what matters to them.
